Fort Pierce’s annual Martin Luther King Jr. Grand Parade, scheduled for Monday, Jan. 18, has been canceled due to COVID-19 pandemic safety concerns.

The city’s MLK Parade committee made the decision to cancel the annual parade, themed “Celebrate the Life and Legacy of Dr. King: The Power of Togetherness,” following growing concerns from participating officials, schools, and community partners, according to the city’s website.1

“The primary focus for the city of Fort Pierce is to provide a safe environment for all citizens,” the announcement says. “We are continuing to monitor the COVID-19 situation closely, and we are working with our community partners to ensure that the most current information is being effectively communicated. Furthermore, we are following the guidelines of the CDC, and are strongly urging visitors of any city facility and our employees to wear a face mask and practice social distancing in order to help slow the spread of COVID-19.”

The staff at Atlantic In-Home Care, LLC is disappointed as we had a great time last year. We look forward to January 17, 2022!
